Next year, Delta is expected to add more than 1,000 weekly flights to Latin America and the Caribbean, it announced Friday. Additional seasonal frequencies on Saturdays will be added to destinations such as St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Guatemala, San Jose, Liberia, San Juan, Cancun, Punta Cana and Montego Bay.
On January 13, 2024, the newly expanded routes will all operate from Atlanta, New York, Detroit, Minneapolis and Boston. Both the Main Cabin and First Class cabin, Delta Comfort+, will be available on each of these flights.
With the new frequencies, Delta will operate six flights per day between Atlanta and San Juan, as well as three flights per day between New York and Cancun and two flights per day between Minneapolis and Punta Cana, Montego Bay, and San Juan.
The new flights, according to a statement from Delta, will give passengers “a crucial gateway to the U.S. for customers, providing them with seamless onward connections to as many as 100 U.S. cities through Delta’s largest hub in Atlanta.”
Beginning Dec. 22, Delta will also operate an additional seasonal flight from Seattle to Cancun on Fridays with a return flight on Saturdays.
The new flights follow Delta’s announcement of additional flights to Colombia in the fall in partnership with LATAM Airlines. The airline also announced plans to add a new daily service between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and Nassau in the Bahamas, and to expand its travel capacity to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in preparation for this year’s vacation season.
Last but not least, for the first time in more than ten years, the airline will start flying again to the Caribbean island of Curaçao in December.
