Undoubtedly, from the Western Hemisphere to Europe and the far corners of Asia, there is much land to explore, making it where to go difficult to decide. We have years of experience, being nomads ourselves, and we have taken the liberty of selecting some of the best destinations based on their cultural richness, trendiness and affordability.
Without further ado, these are the cheapest destinations for nomads this year:
Chiang Mai, Thailand
Chiang Mai, located in the north of Thailand, is as interesting as Bangkok and is in no way inferior to the metropolis in imperial size. The country’s second-largest urban area has plenty of things to keep you busy for months, including ornately built Buddhist temples, street markets, and unusual, tasty cuisine.
According to NomadList‘s latest estimate, you’ll need to budget $1,346 for monthly expenses when moving to the Thai city.
Medellin, Colombia
Most nomads settle here for a single reason: despite its flaws, Medellin is addictive. No matter what inspires us the most, it undoubtedly has a special place in our hearts. We are not sure if it’s the friendly smiles and big hearts of the residents, the breathtaking nature near the city center, or the colorful cityscape.
Not to mention that it’s surprisingly inexpensive for such a popular tourist destination. In fact, Colombia as a whole is quite affordable. Recently, Colombia was awarded the title of the most affordable tourist destination in South America for 2023, leaving behind competitors like Brazil and Argentina.
Tbilisi, Georgia
The Georgian city of Tbilisi is one of the oldest settlements in the world and a proven haven for digital nomads. It is located at the confluence of two continents, where Europe meets Asia. It is a fascinating city with many facets that deserves your attention. It is incredibly popular for its affordable cost of living and millennia-old culture.
Tirana, Albania
There are plenty of work-friendly cafes, a large city park with swaying trees and a beautiful man-made lake that offer a break from the usual chaos of stores and bars, and a vibrant nightlife in Tirana, but its not for everyone. If you are expecting a Paris esthetic, the city is not embellished by neoclassical buildings or boasting the most remarkable European architecture.
