Fun Breakfast Restaurant Near Weeki Wachee, Florida – Leslie’s Bistro

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me. Well, technically not for me, but for my kids. My boys are extremely picky eaters but can shovel down a good breakfast. As a matter of fact, they can eat breakfast three times a day.

So when we travel nothing can disrupt our breakfast time. I know if they get enough protein and juice and other goodness into their little bodies from the start of the day, we can manage to make it through a very bumpy lunch into dinner time.

But breakfast time still can be a good time, and eating at a cool place is usually half the fun. Leslie’s Bistro on Hernando Beach was recommended to me by the lovely ladies over at Hernando County Tourism board – Tammy and Ruby.

Note: Leslie’s Bistro is permanently closed. This post serves as proof of its awesomeness and history in the area.

The day we arrived, Leslie (the owner) was preparing the huge outdoor space that is attached to her restaurant for a pig roast at noon. And the energy was up up up. The theme seemed to be a mixture of racing cars and BBQ with a band practicing for their upcoming set.

And since we just did a tour of Daytona International Speedway my sons were so into the cars that we had no problems during the wait time between ordering food and for it to come out.

The breakfast style and menu were a bit different than what we are used to with the Southern touches thrown in, making it that much more fun for me to eat breakfast.

I ordered corn beef hash. It is their homemade specialty and I have never tasted anything like it before. It was delicious.

My sons were extra happy with their french toast platter since it also came with bacon. A yummy treat.

Leslie’s Bistro was the perfect way for us to start our day before heading to check out the world-famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids, only five-minute drive from there.
