Cancun is a destination known for its beauty. With stunning sandy beaches and crystal clear waters it’s no surprise that it’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in the world. If you are heading here, or if you’re looking for somewhere different to go, Cancun is somewhere that ticks all the boxes. It has so many different things to see and do and can provide relaxation, adrenaline, and a touch of luxury for your holiday. Here we take a look at some of the must-do experiences in Cancun that are sure to make your trip that extra bit special. Trust us, you don’t want to miss out…
Take a boat out to the water
When going to Cancun, one of the first things you need to look into doing is a Cancun boat rental. With this, you can take a luxurious boat out onto the turquoise waters where you can explore things such as the Mesoamerican Reef – one of the largest in the world – as well as take in the sights from the water. Whether you love to swim or just relax, it offers the best of both worlds and will be a luxurious experience you don’t want to miss out on. There are a host of boat types to choose from and you can either rent one to take out yourself or get someone to sail it for you – the choice is yours.
Head into the jungle
As well as its beautiful underwater world, Cancun is also a majestic location above ground. One of the best experiences in Cancun is heading to the jungle where you can embark on a wildlife tour or bird watching. With an abundance of majestic creatures to spot and beautiful plants to discover, it’s a real must when you visit. Why not look into the Cave of the Hanging Snakes which is a real must for any reptile lover visiting Cancun! There are also jungle tours you can embark on my boat, so why not utilize your boat rental for this too? It’s a great way to make the most of the land and the sea! You can also rent out ATV’s to go through the jungle which can be a great way to see it from a different perspective if you want to travel further on ground.
Don’t miss the historical ruins
Cancun is known for its historical ruins and culture so this isn’t to be missed on your trip. There are four main ruins in Cancun, San Miguelito, El Meco, El Rey, and Yamil Lu’um – all of which are worth heading to. You could do them all in one day or spread them out over the course of your holiday. Each has a different story to tell and you can also visit museums which give you further insight into the history of Cancun and the Mayan people that once lived there. Be sure to also venture into the small towns that surround the sites as they give you a taste of authenticity and how people live in the present day.
La Isla Shopping Village
Another top experience to do when you are heading to Cancun is to visit the La Isla shopping village, a free-to-enter shopping district with plenty to see and do. As well as hosting a plethora of shops for you to purchase everything from clothes and jewelry to souvenirs, it’s also a dining and general tourist destination. There are a myriad of places to eat and drink situated with picturesque views while winding canals create a Venice-like atmosphere perfect for a relaxing stroll after lunch. We recommend taking a day to visit here and you can do everything from picking up last-minute luxury goods to visiting the aquarium, wax museum, or cinema.
Spend a day at the beaches
Cancun is known for its beaches for a reason and that’s because they’re some of the most beautiful ones in the world. Some of the top beaches include the Playa Delifines, Playa Langosta, and Playa Norte, all of which have powdery white sand, crystal clear waters, and a plethora of things to do in the area. Enjoy authentic food right on the waterfront or sip on cocktails as you watch the sunset over the ocean.
These are just a few of the main things you need to do when heading to Cancun that will elevate your break away and provide you with a holiday you won’t forget. From exploring the crystal clear waters to foraging through the tropical depths of the jungle, be sure to take a camera and memorize every moment as you’re not going to want to forget a single thing.
