Don’t you just dream of waking up to a world that’s straight out of a Disney movie? You feel beautiful, and you’re surrounded by beauty. That’s what Istanbul will feel like after hair transplant surgery. Every part of it is fulfilling for the eyes, heart, and soul.
A city so rich in history, culture, and cuisine leaves all its visitors spellbound. When you travel here for medical tourism, there are plenty of places that you must see and plenty of food that you should taste. Although you will take a few days to rest, you’ll be good to go outside and enjoy the city, albeit with a few restrictions. Those should be outlined to you by your surgeon.
Now, it’s understandable that you might want to do all the big things in one day. But even though the possibilities are limitless, you must keep in mind that you should not tire yourself out. You can go sightseeing after your operation but not at the cost of your health.
You will be avoiding the sun, beaches, hammams, and, unfortunately, Raki, as alcohol is not allowed after the surgery. Let’s take a look at the things that you should do after your hair transplant surgery in Istanbul.
Do Not Miss Your Check-Up Visit
As much as you might enjoy going around the city and strolling happily, that’s no excuse to miss out on your check-up appointment. Istanbul has too much to offer, and, yes, you’ll have limited time in your hands, but the most important right after your surgery is your health.
Your surgeon needs to make sure if everything’s going well. Your check-up appointment is very crucial in determining the results of your hair transplant surgery. So, don’t you dare ditch it!
Visit the Churches
Istanbul has 123 active churches. All of them have a unique history. The intricate architecture, design, and building structures are definitely worth seeing. St. George’s Cathedral, Bulgarian Iron Church, Church of St. Mary of the Mongols, and Greek Orthodox Church of Agia Efimia among others should be a part of your must-visit list.
Take a Tour Inside the Topkapı Palace
Do you remember hearing those stories about kings and queens while growing up? They have these huge, grand palaces that only exist in your imagination. Well, not anymore, at least once you’ve visited this place. Here, the Sultans of the Ottoman Empire used to live.
Once you’ve entered Topkapı Palace, it’ll turn the clock back in time and give you such a mind-blowing experience. Fun fact: it’s part of the UNESCO’s World Heritage list!
Visit the Archaeological Museum
Located close to the Topkapi Palace, you’ll find the dream place of every history buff. Sarcophaguses of Alexander the Great and King Tabnit are exhibited here. You’ll also find many other historical pieces here from medieval times and different eras.
You Need to Go to the Basilica Cistern
Built by Emperor Justinian in the 6th century, this is the place where Istanbul’s water was stored and distributed throughout the city. Just try and imagine that for a moment. This underground museum has unique and mystic statues that every tourist should see.
Visit the Galata Tower
Unfortunately, the history of its builder remains shrouded in mystery. But what we do know is that it was within a Genoese neighbourhood, so the Genoese people were using the tower. After the conquest of Istanbul in 1453, the Ottomans started to use it first as a prison and then as an astrological observatory.
The tower experienced many earthquakes and fires. However, it’s been repaired every time. Now, the balcony on the top is serving as a restaurant. You can also view the city panoramically from there. Isn’t it something to stand on top of a building that has stood the test of time and has gone through so much for so long? One rumour is that you’ll marry the person you visit the tower with for the first time, so be sure to take your lover there!
Don’t Miss Out on the Spice Bazar
If you want to spice up your tour in Turkey, this is literally the place where you should be. You can find so many different kinds of spices in this historical bazaar. You might not even be aware of the existence of many spices before coming here.
This bazaar is visited by tourists so much that you almost won’t find many locals here. One reason for that could be that the prices here are really high! But you can always enjoy window shopping.
There’s Also the Grand Bazaar
This is the perfect place to get your hands on some exquisite goodies and souvenirs. Once you get tired, you can always try Turkish food. That obviously includes the Turkish delight, which everyone must eat at least once in their life. It’s so delicious.
Try Some Fish Sandwich
This street food is very popular around the Old Town of Istanbul. The restaurant owners fish from the Golden Horn, cook the fish and then put it inside Turkish bread with salad and onion. It’s simple, cheap and tasty.
Eat the Kumpir
Ah, potatoes. No matter what form they’re in, they always taste delicious (especially if they’re fried!) Kumpir is a dish in which potato is baked inside the oven and then stuffed with different mezes and salads on top of it. Famous Turkish melting cheese and natural butter are used in it as well. Put cheese and potatoes together and you, my friend, will have a heavenly taste in your mouth.
Try the Turkish Breakfast
This is a very rich breakfast. It is served with different types of eggs, different cheeses around the country, natural honey, butter, and organic tomatoes and peppers. This hearty meal is nothing like you would’ve eaten before. You’ll be amazed at the variety of ingredients that are a part of this. It is too delicious to miss out.
