Have you ever been to a restaurant that literally transports you to another place entirely? With all our dining out fun, we have never actually had that kind of experience until our visit to Positano Coast restaurant by Aldo Lamberti in Philadelphia.
Positano Coast Restaurant by Aldo Lamberti
My husband and I take a bi-yearly romantic getaway. This year we chose Philadelphia. The Old City of Philly, to be specific.
Our hotel was located right in the heart of the Historic District in Philadelphia and my goal was to do no driving while staying here. So that helped narrow our search greatly.
Once I had the location pinpointed, the rest came easy. Few restaurants truly stood out with exceptional reviews and a unique menu. Positano Coast by Aldo Lamberti won the prize.
I have to say this the webpage doesn’t allow you to fully understand what you are about to enter into.
Most restaurants, I reckon, work hard on having their interior design truly bring out the flavor of what they offer. But with my past experience, most fail at that.
Not Positano Coast.
The second you enter the restaurant you automatically feel like you are on the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
Wow! My husband and I couldn’t get enough of it.
My strong recommendation is to sit in the lounge area, this is more open, and it allows you to pretend you are on a cliff overlooking the crystal blue Mediterranean waters while enjoying the most authentic Mediterranean cuisine we’ve ever tasted.

The menu is broken down into several sections: Crudo and Carpaccio, Raw Bar, starters (appetizers), small plates, main dishes, and dessert
We had a little bit of everything, and I suggest you do the same. The prices are very affordable, so if you get a couple of small dishes with one or two main dishes, it is the same price as one main dish.
Crudo and Carpaccio
Tuna Tartare – it comes on a bed of avocado, chile, chives, cilantro pesto
Starters
Fresca Salad – Carrots, spinach, red frill mustard lettuce, shaved asparagus, garlic chips, prosecco vinaigrette
Small Plates
Sea Urchin Pasta – this is a super special flavor and not for everyone – Black squid ink pasta, sea urchin, tomatoes, crabmeat
Verde Rissotto – I’m a big rissotto fan. When you taste this dish, the first thing that pops into mind is that it tastes very green. Honestly, until tasting this I would have never gotten that idea, that something can actually taste like a color, but that’s the only way I can describe this flavor.
It’s made with mixed peas, pioppini mushrooms, goat cheese.
Main Dishes
Chicken Ripieno – this was by far my favorite – Stuffed with herbs, French green beans, cauliflower purée, and sage marsala wine sauce.
Scottish Salmon – Broccoli, olives, limoncello sauce.
Dessert
Cocktails
The restaurant also specializes in a ton of unique, and truly different styled cocktails. If you’re into trying new drink concoctions, this is your place.
