Is it safe to travel to Dubai during Covid 2021?

Since June 28, the United Arab Emirates has been on CDC’s ‘high-risk’ list – but the situation is very stable and Dubai is considered a safe place to visit.

Therefore, if you are planning on visiting the U.A.E., make sure you are fully vaccinated or follow all restrictions in order to be safe.

The good news is that more than 90% of the U.A.E. residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine against COVID-19. That significantly decreases the risk of getting infected.

Moreover, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and venues can again operate at full capacity. Dubai’s nightlife has also resumed.

November 2 – Emirates Airline arrivals to obtain a free PCR test as vaccination or testing becomes mandatory to enter Dubai Expo

Even though it was presumed that neither vaccination nor tests were mandatory to enter the 2020 Expo, Dubai U-turned on the rules. Visitors are, in the end, required to be vaccinated or provide a negative PCR test.

Luckily, Emirates Airline reacted quickly, and it now offers free PCR tests for all its passengers. They only have to present their Expo ticket – every Emirates passenger also gets a one-day pass to the event – to the airline staff. Followingly, they can get tested right at the airport without prior booking.

Unvaccinated passengers of other airlines don’t have to worry. There is a dedicated testing center on-site where results should usually return within a few hours.

September 12 – No vaccines or tests required to enter Dubai Expo

The Dubai Expo, an event estimated to attract more than 25 million people over six months, will not require proof of vaccinations or negative test results from visitors to enter.

Countries like the U.K. or some states in the U.S. are considering vaccine passports to access large venues. In France, people are required to present proof of vaccination or a negative test result to eat out or travel.

Some public spaces in neighboring Abu Dhabi are restricted only to the fully vaccinated population. On the other hand, Dubai has stayed nearly restriction-free since it came from lockdown more than a year ago.

Masks and social distancing will remain at this year’s Expo. There will also be sanitizing stations, robots, and wearable technology to help with numerous interactions, such as ticketing or queueing.
