Affiliate Marketing for Complete Beginners: Lessons from Monthly $500k Affiliate Marketer John Crestani

Are you completely new to affiliate marketing (or maybe you don’t even know what it is)? Not to worry! John Crestani makes over $500,000 per MONTH and he has an extremely simple guide to get you started.

Step 1: Google “Affiliate Networks”

Seems easy enough right? A simple Google search will provide you with endless pages of “The Top 10 Affiliate Network” articles, and you can sign up for them all. As with all things that seem too good to be true, this is not a one step process, and making money through these avenues will require some marketing efforts on your part.

Step 2: Join an Affiliate Network

Amazon Associates and Clickbank are consistently the best of the best affiliate programs on the market. Clickbank has been around for about 20 years, and has over 4,000 products to sell at any given time. Amazon is an easy example, they have a “become an affiliate” link in their footer and you get 10% of the advertised price of a product.

These networks will ask you for your website when signing up. If you don’t have a website, put your Facebook or Youtube URL, social media is most likely where you’ll be doing your marketing anyway.

Step 3: Find a Product

Find a product that resonates with you, something that you enjoy and can sell easily. 10% of a low cost item is not a lot of commission, so you’re going to need to be able to sell this product like a pro.

A product that fits your personal brand will easily turn your audience into your target market. If you’re a make-up artist, your followers are more likely to buy a make-up mirror than a fishing rod.

Step 4: Go Out & Sell

To sell your affiliate products, you need to use a specific affiliate link. You’ll get these links from your Network. Amazon affiliates have an extra bar below the nav-bar, once you’re on the item you go to this bar and click “get link text.” Your customers will need to use this specific link for you to get paid.

Next you’ll want to focus on your voice. If you’re writing something that looks like an ad, no one is going to buy it. Affiliate marketing is more of a personal recommendation, emphasis on the word personal.

Share your link with a video of you showing off the product, or send your friends recommendations based on things you already know they like. Put things on your personal page in a genuine voice, not something that feels like you were paid to read from a script!

Another option to get your link out there is to utilize paid advertisements. If your commission is enough to cover expenses like this and still make a profit, this is a huge avenue for revenue.

Affiliate marketing has a large margin for error, if your first attempts don’t pay off, keep trying! There are more than enough Affiliate Networks out there for you to succeed in at least one! Our biggest advice is to be authentic, sell what you know, and avoid starting any of your sales pitches with “hey girl!”
