DePasquale and Sunday Win AG Primaries

Former state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale and York County District Attorney Dave Sunday came away with convincing victories in their respective primaries for Pennsylvania Attorney General.

DePasquale finished atop the five-candidate race with a 160,000-vote margin in the Democratic race, while Sunday defeated Republican opponent Craig Williams by a convincing 360,000-vote difference.

DePasquale took to social media in response to his victory, tweeting

“I’m happy to know that people across Pennsylvania embrace and believe that accountability and redemption is what we need,” Sunday said at his victory celebration in York. “We have to hold people accountable. You have to have accountability. But on the other end of it, we have to embrace redemption as a society. If communities aren’t safe, nothing else matters.”

Incumbent Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry, who was appointed to the post by Gov. Josh Shapiro after he left the office to assume his role as governor, did not seek re-election.

The attorney general’s office has a budget of about $120 million annually and plays a critical role in arresting drug traffickers, fighting gun trafficking, defending state laws in court and protecting consumers from predatory practices.
