Family-friendly Party at Bangkok’s Central World Street
Central World is a massive shopping mall, one of Southeast Asia’s biggest malls. On NYE, the roads that lead to this mall are closed to traffic. Over a million people arrive here to witness the most incredible fireworks display in all of Thailand.
Then there’s the crazy shopping, the drinking, the partying, the dancing, the eating all night. The only negative we can think of is that the place can get too crowded.
Avoid calling for cab service to get there; the cab drivers will usually be drunk. Instead, take the BTS rapid train which plies free service all night in honor of NYE. Get off at Chidlom Station and make your way to Central World, one of the best places to visit in Thailand.

From the friendly locals to the beautiful hotels to the enticing festivities, Chiang Mai makes New Year’s a scintillating adventure. Participating in the lantern release is a special experience and an unforgettable memory. For a truly special new year’s, visit Chiang Mai, Thailand.
The Lantern Festival – Chiang Mai
People watched on as thousands of Lanna-style lanterns, which are made from rice paper was released into the night sky. This was a time to pay respect to the higher deities. The lanterns filled up the sky with a warm light that made me feel like time had stopped completely
The northern capital of Thailand has always been the place to be for holidays and festivals. Unlike the rowdy celebrations offered by Bangkok for New Year’s Eve, Chian Mai provides the vibe of a small town in a bigger city. This is where some of the most highly desirable celebrations of the country are hosted.
The candle-lit lantern ceremony is an extremely popular event. Tourists and Thais come together to gather a wide assortment of paper lanterns. Once the skies darken, the lanterns are released. Mindless Full Moon Party at Koh Phangan Island
At Ko Phangan Island, the most mindless, let-everything-go-to-dogs total abandon party takes place every NYE. If you’re the kind that wants the roller coaster to stop or even maintain some order, this isn’t the party for you.
Many legendary parties take place on this little island in the Gulf of Thailand throughout the year, but the NYE party is the craziest of the lot. Many thousands of party-goers crowd into Haad Rin Beach to drink, party, dance, eat, drink, party, dance, enjoy beautiful beaches and more all night on NYE, till the sun comes up. Of course, there are the obligatory fireworks at midnight, if you’re not too boozed to enjoy them.
Busy Vibes at Koh Phi Phi Island
Check out this, sneak peek video from 2017 PARTY!
It’s definitely the busiest island in Thailand and one of the best NYE spots. If you like crowds and great party vibe, you will definitely enjoy a lot of that on the beaches of Koh Phi Phi. It gets booked out fast, so act quickly. In case you miss out, you’ll find some other options in Krabi for sure.
Also, you should be aware of tourist overload, and if you do not prefer super touristic vibes you should avoid this place for NYE. It’s very hard to find a calm corner with no people on this island.

Koh Samui is a very “flexible” island that fits almost any type of traveler that comes to Thailand. Comparing to its “sister island Koh Phangan” it’s a bit bigger and offers more activities. You can enjoy a nice family holiday or your romantic honeymoon but on the other side, you can also find great party places full of travelers and backpackers.
If you are planning something more relaxing then head to Maenam Beach and Choeng Mon Beach which are famous for their relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.
For the biggest party head to Chaweng Beach or Nikki Beach where they organize giant parties every NEW year. These places sometimes celebrate until the 2nd of January (not just 1st), so get ready for a neverending party! You can enjoy famous DJs and some of the biggest fireworks in the country.
Make sure you come for at least 4-5 days. Koh Samui has a lot to offer and you should definitely discover more of it, not just party. You can experience great snorkeling, diving, waterfalls, beaches and check out some of the most beautiful temples.
Places to celebrate NYE in Pattaya
Pattaya’s Naughty, Naughty Walking Street!
The Walking Street in Pattaya is known as a hip party spot, with innumerable bars and houses of pleasure offering everything that one could possibly desire. It’s just a kilometer in length but so full of a mix of the fantastic and the ribald, it’ll keep you hooked all night.
