Making it to the stunning Riviera Maya is now easier than ever. On March 31, Tulum International Airport (TQO) celebrated the arrival of the first-ever United Airlines non-stop flight from Houston.
This inaugural flight carried 146 passengers and was followed by a sister flight from Newark/New York.
But that’s not all. United will also start operating non-stop flights from Chicago on Sunday. With this addition, the carrier will be connecting Tulum to a total of eight US cities.
This way, United joined American and Delta which also started operations to Tulum on March 28.
Located 90 miles away from Cancun and 18 miles away from Tulum, the Felipe Carrillo Puerto airport will give Americans whole new access to the internationally renowned Riviera Maya.
“Tulum is at the top of a lot of travel lists – great beaches and restaurants, and a region featuring a rich history and spectacular natural beauty,” said Patrick Quayle, United’s senior vice president of Network Planning and Alliances. “Our new direct flights help people get there faster than ever, giving them even more time to enjoy one of Mexico’s most unique destinations,” he said.
As per United website, Americans are now able to find flights from Tulum to Houston for as little as $235.
