Solo traveling is something that everyone should do at least one time. It comes with so many benefits and in fact, in those pandemic times, we have been told many times about social distance, and solo traveling fit just right! I have seen some myths around it lately, things like “you shouldn’t solo traveling if you’re 30 or more”  And I thought I should bust them down!

If you are already 30 years old or more, you must be thinking you are too old for solo travel. Guess what? Of course not, you are not too old! You will never be too old for solo traveling. In fact, that’s a BIG myth about traveling. If you think about it, there are many reasons why solo traveling over 30 is better than traveling being younger. Of course, traveling being younger has some advantages too, but we will be focusing on why solo traveling over 30 years old is better.

It is a proven fact that solo traveling has many benefits, health benefits, social and cultural. Visiting a new state, a new country, testing different foods, or even listening to different music while traveling will have a positive impact on you. That’s why being a certain age shouldn’t stop you from traveling. Also, this is a fun way of traveling, you can get selfish, less worried and visit places you wouldn’t visit with a group!

Why should you solo travel over your 30 years old?

The reasons can vary a lot depending on your circumstances, but the benefits of traveling are always the same, when you’re traveling alone the benefits just get better. Traveling can reduce stress, help you think outside the box, and improve your mental health. Also, traveling over 30 has some benefits that are often overlooked by many people

Benefits of traveling alone over 30 years old:

You have more money

That’s right, simple but powerful. If you managed to travel at your 20 years old, you must remember the struggle you had. So this time you will not be sleeping in a dorm! Also, you can afford activities like riding on a hot air balloon and more!

You get to know interesting people

It’s a fact that when you’re traveling with friends or family, you’ll tend to stick together with the group. Of course, you wouldn’t leave your family or friends alone… but when solo traveling you’re more likely to be more social, talk to the locals and make new friends. The biggest reason that it is actually easier to meet people when traveling alone, is that you look more approachable without a group.

One of the biggest mistakes made by solo travelers is that they think it’s about being on your own all the time. And it’s not, traveling solo is for getting new experiences, meeting people, and making friends.

Build your own itinerary

One problem group travel or family travel has is building an itinerary that everyone likes, and yeah, you’ll not have this problem when traveling alone. You can build it as you place, with the attraction you want, at the time you want. You can even change your mind anytime without having to worry about anyone getting angry.

You are not so young but still fit and hungry for adventure

One of the best things about traveling in your 30 is you can do all the activities you didn’t at your 20. Is true you aren’t as young as before, but you’re still fit to do many activities, like hiking, climbing and many traveling sports. There are many travel bloggers over their 30s that have a blast traveling and doing activities at this age.
For example, Celia from keepcalmandtravel was hanging to the edge of Victoria Falls at the age of 35! That’s amazing!

Reduce Stress from your 24/7 job

Let’s face it, most of us have jobs and a small part loves it. We need a break in order to keep up with the tasks. Life at 30 can get demanding and stressful. Guess what? You can reduce all of that traveling. There’s a ton of travelers over their 30 that saves a whole year to travel next year for a lot of time

Increase your self-confidence

Traveling solo in your 30s or at any age is a challenge. The first thing solo travel will teach you is how to be more confident. Since you will be pushed out of your comfort zone, challenge your limits and your ability to fight with the unknown. I’m pretty sure that you’ll be able to know a part of you that was hidden,

You’ll take smarter risks

A huge one! You know, how dumb can we be as a teen. Well, you don’t need to worry about taking unnecessary risks, of course, you still can do a lot of activities and immerse yourself in adventures. But you’ll be taking a better decision, that way you can save a lot of money, injuries and even your life.

Closing Thoughts

I have been traveling since a long time ago (I’m even an ex-pat), and one thing I can guarantee is that your age should not stop you from traveling. As you can see across the post, traveling in your 30s have a lot of benefits. And besides the ones I mention, there are many others, like you can appreciate everything more, you can develop a real relationship. The 30s are the best time to travel.
