Sebastian Vettel and Lawrence Stroll Unleash Big Formula 1 Plan to Lift Aston Martin, James Bond Style

He’s Stroll, Lawrence Stroll.

The Aston Martin owner has big plans for his Formula 1 franchise. Some may call the Canadian businessman’s short-term ambitions far-fetched, but with proven pilot Sebastian Vettel on board and the foundation of a new modern garage under construction, Stroll doesn’t believe so.

He’s adamant about developing an F1 team that will challenge for a constructors’ championships within a half-decade.

Paced by Vettel, Stroll contends his plans are cruising along a straightaway, James Bond style.

Sebastian Vettel taking his detailed approach to lead F1 team to the next level

Stroll’s plans include Aston Martin, the car manufacturer made famous by 007 films, competing for an F1 constructors’ championship in “three to five years,” he told motorsportmagazine.com.

That plan included maintaining the driving skills of a proven champion. Enter Vettel, a four-time champ who has a “very particular way of working,” former Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen said during an appearance on the Beyond the Grid podcast.

Raikkonen reiterated the pair worked well together from 2015-18, but Vettel’s detailed approach, pen, and paper in hand, raised a few eyebrows from garage-mates.

“Obviously (he’s) a great guy,” Raikkonen said. “We had a good relationship always, and (he had) a very particular way of working!”

Of course, who can argue with Vettel’s success? In 280 GP starts, he has compiled 53 wins and 122 podiums.

It’s easy to see why Stroll would want the veteran Vettel to lead Aston Martin into its new era. Stroll keeps rounding out his team with top talent.

Aston Marton announced on Jan. 18 that it has agreed to a contract with Dan Fallows, Red Bull Racing’s former head of aerodynamics. After helping Max Verstappen to an F1 world championship last season, Fallows accepted a role as technical director, starting in April, according to formula1.com.

Stroll’s investments continue.

Stroll keeps investing in the future of Formula 1’s Aston Martin

Stroll has been talking about building a new headquarters since he purchased the franchise in the summer of 2018. Mostly through investments in the fashion industry, Stroll amassed a net worth of $3.2 billion, according to financialslot.com. Stroll also owns Canada’s Mont-Tremblant circuit in Quebec.

He is putting his money where his public comments are.

The organization broke ground on a £150-£200m (approximately $170-220 million in US dollars) factory in September 2021.

“When I bought the team, a little over three years ago this past summer, one of the very apparent obvious improvements that needed to be made was our facilities,” Stroll said.

Based near Silverstone, Aston Martin’s new base will feature three buildings, including a wind tunnel.

Last year, he changed the brand’s name from Racing Point to Aston Martin, favoring the James Bond appeal.

Aston Martin will be the first Formula 1 team to launch new racing machine

Scheduled to be the first F1 organization to launch its 2022 racing machine, Aston Martin will stage a press conference on Feb. 10.

When Vettel and Stroll pull back the curtain on the AMR22 at the team’s headquarters in Gaydon, England, F1’s new era will officially be unveiled.

With all of the owner’s investments and the detailed Vettel driving the team’s No. 1 car, has it not already arrived, Bond style?
