LeBron James may be the greatest player in NBA history after achieving feats that no one has ever come close to doing

Since entering the NBA in 2003, LeBron James has accomplished many feats. He’s a four-time champion, four-time regular-season MVP, four-time Finals MVP, three-time All-Star Game MVP, and has made 17 All-NBA teams and six All-Defensive teams. LeBron’s career has been so remarkable that many pundits and fans believe he has a shot of passing Michael Jordan in the never-ending GOAT debate one day.

The LeBron-Jordan GOAT debate will likely never end. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and there is no right or wrong answer. However, LeBron may officially be the greatest player in NBA history — at least in some people’s minds — after accomplishing a feat no one has ever come close to doing.

LeBron James, statistically, is in a class of his own

How spectacular is LeBron? He recently became the only player in NBA history to rank top-100 in points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and 3-pointers. It’s an incredible accomplishment for the King, who is still putting up elite numbers despite being in Year 19.

One of the main reasons fans and pundits can’t put LeBron over Jordan in the GOAT debate is because of his losing record in the Finals. The Akron native is 4-6 and has been swept twice in the Finals. Meanwhile, Jordan went 6-0 and won all six Finals MVPs. He also never changed teams like LeBron.

However, changing teams has actually helped LeBron in a historical aspect.

LeBron James and making history seem to go together

LeBron has played for three NBA teams. He won two championships with the Miami Heat, one with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and has one ring with his current team, the Los Angeles Lakers. By winning Finals MVP each time, King James is the only player in NBA history to win three Finals MVPs with three different teams.

LeBron has averaged 28.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 7.8 assists in 55 Finals games. Remember when we said history and LBJ seem to go together? The future Hall of Famer is second in Finals history in points, sixth in points per game, second in field goals, second in assists, second in steals, and sixth in blocks. You can’t talk about the history of the NBA without mentioning LeBron, who holds the record for most consecutive games with double-digit scoring.

LeBron could be No. 1 on the NBA’s all-time scoring list when his career is over. He’s currently in third place behind Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone. Statistically, LeBron is the best all-around player in NBA history since he’s the only player in the top-100 of all the major categories.

However, he’s still two championships and two Finals MVPs away from tying Jordan, and there’s a chance he may never catch MJ.

The Lakers look like a disaster

LeBron is averaging 27.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in Year 19. However, the Lakers are only 16-18 and have one of the worst defenses in the NBA. They are giving up 112.3 points per game, and the acquisition of Russell Westbrook has been a nightmare.

The Lakers look like a play-in team thus far. LeBron is still one of the best players in the world despite being 36 going on 37. However, Anthony Davis is injury-prone and can’t be depended on, and Westbrook is a turnover machine who can’t shoot from the perimeter.

With that said, there’s a possibility LeBron is done winning championships. Jordan was his childhood idol, so we know how important it is for LeBron to get six rings and six Finals MVPs. However, he may not have the right supporting cast around him to attain that goal at the tail end of his career.
