The NFL playoffs are creeping closer and closer. As Week 16 of the NFL season kicks off, a few teams can clinch playoff spots, and the Dallas Cowboys ensured their playoff spot on Thursday evening.
But, the Los Angeles Rams have a shot at securing a playoff spot this weekend in what has been a wild NFL campaign. Then, how can Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp snag a playoff spot in Week 16?
The Los Angeles Rams can secure a playoff spot with a victory in Week 16 over the Minnesota Vikings
Simple enough, right?
If the Rams win, they get in. LA plays the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, and Mike Zimmer’s will be without Dalvin Cook after the star running back tested positive for COVID-19.
That should help the Rams’ chances of winning, although this team has been off and on at times this season. The NFC West division is still up for grabs, especially after the Arizona Cardinals’ shocking loss to the Detroit Lions this past weekend.
Then, the Rams beat the Seattle Seahawks, putting Arizona and LA in a tie for the NFC West lead.
Nonetheless, the easiest way for the Rams to get in is to defeat the Vikings at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
There is another scenario for the Rams to secure a playoff spot in Week 16
If, for some reason, the Rams can’t beat the Vikings this weekend, don’t worry. There’s another way.
Unfortunately, this way isn’t as obtainable as the former. The Rams would need the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles to lose.
The Eagles losing is already unlikely since they play the lowly New York Giants, who are still without Daniel Jones. Then there are the issues with the Saints, who will be without both Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night.
This is a massive blow for New Orleans, who is fresh off a stunning shutout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady.
Moreover, the Dolphins have somehow rattled off six straight victories to crawl their way back into the AFC playoff picture.
So, yes, this scenario doesn’t look too good for the Rams. Simply put, just take care of their own business.

After Week 15’s Tuesday evening games concluded, the Super Bowl odds dropped again. The Rams sit a bit low on this list, but there are many things to like in LA.
The Jared Goff-Matthew Stafford trade has been something else, and the emergence of Cooper Kupp is another story altogether.
The Rams wide receiver is creeping up on Calvin Johnson’s NFL record, and he may break it also.
At this rate, Stafford and Kupp pose a massive threat to the entire NFC, even more after Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette sustained injuries for the Buccaneers.
The Rams also defeated the Bucs earlier this season, so there’s that piece of information.
