Every year the WTA Finals bring together the best 8 tennis players of the season. This does not mean that they are forced to contest the competition, and this year the absences of Ashleigh Barty and Naomi Osaka are contemplated.

Aryna Sabalenka, Karolina Pliskova, Barbora Krejcikova, Maria Sakkari, Paula Badosa, Garbiñe Muguruza and Iga Swiatek are the 7 ranked at the moment . The last ticket is disputed between Anett Kontaveit and Ons Jabeur.

As for the doubles pairs, Krejčíková will share the court with Siniakova. Aoyama and Shibahara, Hsieh and Mertens, as well as Melichar and Schuurs, already have a guaranteed ticket. For their part, Stosur and Zhang make up the last pair to qualify.

Stadium capacity and sanitary protocols

According to Gustavo Santoscoy, there is no intention to exceed the limits established by the state authorities. In addition to respecting the capacity, the organizers of the WTA Finals in Guadalajara contemplate the sanitary protocols that we already know.

We are extremely respectful of what they tell us, we do not intend to sell more than we can, it is a pandemic issue, and we have to take it as such. One of the challenges is for people to respect the rules, which are those that any stadium already has: that they take their temperature, that they wear their face masks, and we will have antibacterial gel in all areas of the stadium,” explained Santoscoy.

If you attend as an amateur, it will not be necessary to present a vaccination certificate. Unlike the organizers, the players who participate in the WTA Finals do not need to be vaccinated either, although testing will continue every third day: “The general public will be able to access taking care of themselves.”

This is how the remodeling of the Pan American Tennis Center progresses

With less than 2 months to prepare for the WTA Finals, everything had to rush to meet the dates set by the WTA itself. The Pan American Tennis Center stadium required remodeling to increase its capacity and offer an unforgettable experience.

We made a stadium practically from scratch, it was a soccer field. Today we have finished the part of the base and the asphalt, we will begin to paint according to the WTA mark. We are 80 percent complete. The fear was the time, but we go according to the calendar and with a lot of support,” Santoscoy revealed to Sopitas.com.
